Paltrow: I thought there were no paparazzi here

CHICAGO, Illinois-- If you're a superstar Hollywood actress, one of the nice things about visiting Chicago is the absence of paparazzi.

Or so Gwyneth Paltrow thought.

Paltrow arrived at the same time as her former fiance, Brad Pitt, his companion, Angelina Jolie, and their children. Their presence has meant more star-hunting photographers than usual, said Paltrow, in town Friday to promote perfume at a Macy's store.

Paltrow also stayed at The Peninsula Chicago, where the Pitt-Jolie family is living while Jolie films the movie "Wanted."

"When Brad and Angelina leave, won't they (paparazzi) go, too?" the 34-year-old said. "Don't you think they sort of blow in and out with the celebs?"

In 2003 the Oscar-winning actress said she loved coming to Chicago "because there's no paparazzi."

11 hurt at Tom Cruise film shoot

BERLIN, Germany (Reuters) -- Eleven people were injured when they fell off the back of a truck during the shooting of Tom Cruise's latest film in Berlin, police said on Monday.

In "Valkyrie," Cruise plays Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg, who fronted the failed attempt by a group of largely military conspirators to assassinate Adolf Hitler in July 1944.

The 11 fell from the truck when a side panel burst open as it drove around a corner in central Berlin on Sunday evening, police said. One of them was seriously hurt and had to remain in hospital. Filming was halted after the accident.

"We have no findings to suggest anyone famous was involved in the accident," said a police spokesman, adding he did not know whether it would affect the shoot this week.

Cruise has come under fire from politicians and the Stauffenberg family for his role in the movie due to his involvement with Scientology, which the German government views as a cult.

The conspiracy's importance to the post-war rehabilitation of Germany has meant that dramatisations of the events of July 20, 1944, tend to be subject to particular scrutiny.

Eddie Murphy concedes paternity

LOS ANGELES, California (Reuters)
-- Actor-comedian Eddie Murphy publicly acknowledged on Friday having fathered a child out of wedlock with Spice Girls singer Melanie Brown, who brought a paternity suit against him earlier this week.

A brief statement issued by Murphy's publicist said the 46-year-old star of "Dreamgirls" and the "Beverly Hills Cop" movies "always has and will continue to honor his responsibilities as a father."

"Mr. Murphy and Ms. Brown dated very briefly and never made any plans of ANY sort," the statement said. "He acknowledges paternity of the child Angel, and has paid child support to Ms. Brown as well as covering the expenses of her pregnancy."

The statement concluded by saying Murphy "views this as a private matter, and as such, will not be making any further comments about it."

Murphy had never publicly acknowledged paternity before.

Brown filed suit against Murphy in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday, seeking to legally establish his paternity and seeking unspecified child support for the 3-month-old girl.

A DNA test in June confirmed that Murphy is the father of Brown's baby, Angel Iris Murphy Brown, who was born in April. The couple dated last year and Brown, 32, known as Scary Spice as a member of the British pop phenomenon, listed Murphy as the father on the child's birth certificate.

Celebrity magazines reported this week that Murphy had become engaged to his girlfriend of 10 months, Tracey Edmonds. Murphy has five children from his first marriage to Nicole Mitchell, which ended in divorce in April 2006.

The Spice Girls announced in June they would be reuniting for a world tour starting in December
